As applied futurists, we work with businesses and organizations to be resilient, vital, and successful now and for their future. Our basic premise: we believe language creates the future and the future is present now through actions you take today. To move in the direction of your desired future, it’s imperative that you work from a defined purpose and values every day.
Based on Brain Science
Our future work is based on cutting edge brain science—specifically, recent developments in neuropsychology that are changing our understanding of how the brain forms connections and creates possibilities for growth. By utilizing strategies that support the development of new neurons, new pathways, and new connections in the brain, we can help clients maximize growth into the future they intend for themselves.
We also work on examining beliefs and behaviors within teams, and seeing if client actions are congruent with the future they say they want. It is our belief that to build successful organizational structures, it takes people committed to growing themselves.
The Science of Possibility
The neuroscience is clear: if we do not believe that something is possible, then the neuron connections won’t even form to support new learning in this area. Those parts of the brain won’t even talk to each other. Worse, defaulting to existing ways of thinking just reinforces old networks in our brain – some of which are not helpful. You simply can’t get to a new destination taking the same road.
This is true for individuals and it is equally true for teams. Organizations are built by the behavior of people, and people’s behavior is based on their repeated patterns. It ALL starts in brain.
This is part of the reason why we say success in an inside game. It all starts with the person in the mirror.
Language Creates the Future
It is through the tool of language and the words that we use that we can begin to alter our own behavior and “hack” our brains and patterns of behavior. Words are the programming language of our brain—how we interpret what is happening to us and how we define where we are going.
As business owners and team members, our language is one of the most important tools we have. Everything in business is language-based. Language is the medium we do business in—we speak, we listen, we write. It is through language that our reality is created.
When we do the groundwork of looking at how our words inform our beliefs, and vice versa, and how those beliefs blossom into behavior, we can begin to change our trajectory.
